b.Organizing: Chris Pomeroy reported that "Lunch with the B-Team" went very well, so we should plan on doing it again. He reported that we made several contacts at Parkview, only a few people showed up for the 11am meeting and none for the 2pm meeting. Chris will continue to send weekly emails to all members trying to keep them informed.
3. Upcoming
a. David Zwart requested that the present union members try to get more people to attend the B-Team lunch at 11:30 every Thursday.
b.David noted that the union will be phone banking after the meeting for the Membership Meeting. Our goal is to call all the departments and generate a significant turnout. David then turned the disucssion to the processing of union swag to be distributed at the Membership Meeting. Arrangements were made for the chalking excercise this Wednesday night. The discussion turned to preparations for the general Membership Meeting including the procurement of a viedo projector, computers for the sign in, as well as office visits and the distribution of flyers.
c. David opened up further discussion about what should take place at the general membership meeting. Everyone agreed that the general membership needed to be more active, and there were several proposals of voting action, including endorsment of the curret tentative agreements with the administration, the approval date for the contract, and some way of showing support for the bargaining team. Keith Russo proposed that we also take a vote at the Membership Meetig for soem type of work action. It was greed that we would vote on 1) The course of action for the union 2)Endorsement of the tentativly agreed articles 3) Support for the bargaining team including a proposal for sending out a strike ballot and informaitonal picket.
Union members this week should:
1) Chalk the campus, Wednesday, 9pm. Meet in front of Siebert.
2) Support the B-Team, Thursday, 11:30am.
3) Make office visits and distribute flyers for the Membership Meeting.
4) Attend the Membership Meeting, Friday, 5:30pm, Bernhard 208/209.
